Health and Wellness

We offer all eligible employees a choice of company-subsidized medical plans, including network-based plans and plans offering the freedom to go to any provider.*

We offer two company-subsidized dental plans. Our dental network includes over 125,000 providers.*

Our vision plan covers periodic eye exams and corrective eyewear through an extensive network of providers. *

Employees can purchase additional insurance at affordable, group rates to customize their coverage needs:

  • Critical Illness and Cancer Insurance pays a cash benefit – to use for any purpose -- if an enrolled employee is diagnosed with a covered illness or condition. .
  • Accident insurance pays a cash benefit – to use for any purpose – if an enrolled employee is injured as a result of a covered accident.
  • The myWellness Rewards program inspires our employees to live healthier lives and achieve lifetime financial security with content and tools that support physical, mental, and financial well-being. Employees and their spouses or domestic partners can earn rewards by tracking daily healthy habits, participating in team challenges, connecting with colleagues, and much more!

Financial Wellness

Contributions to our 401(k) account may be invested in a range of investment options, and includes a matching contribution from Sun Life. In addition, we set up a Retirement Investment Account (RIA) for every employee,consisting entirely of contributions from Sun Life.

The Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) gives employees the opportunity to buy shares of Sun Life stock at a discount with contributions deducted from pay on an after-tax basis.

We provide Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance with the option to for employees to purchase additional coverage for themselves and eligible dependents.

  • Heath Savings Account: Eligible employees who enroll in a High Deductible Health Plan can make pre-tax contributions to pay for eligible healthcare expenses. Sun Life contributes to this account as well.
  • Health Care FSA (Regular or Limited Use): Pre-tax contributions help to pay for eligible healthcare expenses for enrolled employees and dependents
  • Dependent Care FSA: Pre-tax contributions help to pay for eligible child and/or adult day care expenses.
  • Commuter Benefit Account: Helps pay for costs incurred while commuting to work for public transit (including train, subway, bus, ferry, or vanpool) and parking.

We contribute the majority of the cost for Long-Term Disability coverage.

Work/Life Balance

Paid family leave allows our employees to spend time with family during moments that matter – bringing the same opportunity for bonding to all, providing equal support for caregivers to tend to loved ones, and helping employees address other needs for a wide range of circumstances. We provide a generous paid-leave program that is equal to, or better than most state programs. 

All employees are eligible from the date of hire.

  • Paid Family Leave

Employees can take a Paid Family Leave for a number of reasons, including bonding with a newborn, newly adopted or newly placed foster child, and caring for a family member with a serious health condition. 

Sun Life also expands the definition of family, which allows employees to take time to care for someone related by blood or affinity who is equivalent of a family relationship, or chosen family.

  • Paid Medical Leave

Employees can also take paid leave if disabled due to his or her own health condition, illness or injury.

 

Sometimes we all need help—for emotional support, or assistance with financial or legal matters. We provide an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) self-referral program to employees and their families that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Flexible work schedules help support a healthy work-life balance, so we accommodate options that work best for employees and their families.

We offer competitive paid vacation time, known as “Sun Days,” based on years of service, as well as Floater Days and paid Sick Days. Employees may also take a paid sabbatical leave after five years of service to relax, recharge, or take part in fulfilling activities such as travel, volunteering or hobbies.

To support employees who grow their families through adoption, Sun Life provides tax-free reimbursement for adoption-related expenses up to a certain amount.

Group insurance policies are underwritten by Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada (Wellesley Hills, MA) in all states, except New York.
